PERRYVILLE, Alaska (KTUU) - Authorities were informed one minute after midnight on Monday that a man had died from blood loss in the Alaska village of Perryville.
Jared Kaiakokonok, 25, was confirmed dead by troopers the following day after they chartered a flight to the remote village.
According to the report filed by the Alaska State Troopers, Kaiakokonok had gotten into an "altercation" with a family member. After that altercation, troopers say, Kaiakokonok reportedly "began hitting a window causing it to break."
"Kaiakokonok died as a result of self-sustained injuries after he put his arm through a glass window causing significant blood loss," troopers wrote in a dispatch report.
He was pronounced dead at the village clinic after losing blood. Troopers say his body was flown to King Salmon, and is planned to be transported to Anchorage for an autopsy.
Troopers said that alcohol was a factor in the incident. They will continue their investigation into the incident.
