SITKA, Alaska (KTUU) - A dead man washed onto a beach in Goose Cove, on Sunday morning. Alaska State Troopers say they will continue a search for his companion.

According to AST, the body of 49-year-old Sean Elliot, of Sitka, was located on the beach at approximately 8:25 a.m., on Easter.

Elliot had been located by boaters in the Peril Straits area of Southeast Alaska. Troopers say his boat was located in the water nearby, overturned and waterlogged.

Additionally, troopers say that a second man was on-board when the boat overturned.

After making contact with missing man's next-of-kin, AST identified the second person as 45-year-old Sean Poffenbarger – also from Sitka.

Over the weekend, multiple agencies responded to recover Elliot's body, including AST, the United States Coast Guard, the Sitka Fire Department and the Sitka Police Department.

This story will be updated when Poffenbarger is located.
