ANCHORAGE (KTUU) After the Glenn Highway on-ramp from north Muldoon Road closed Friday to allow construction work, drivers were caught in the congestion around the Tikahtnu Commons this weekend.
"It was a little confusing, traffic was very backed up and very hard to figure out everybody was kind of confused going the wrong way. Seemed like a lot of misdirection out there," James Gallego said.
Traffic delays were "inevitable" as workers raised the grade along the interchange, according to Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities spokesperson Shannon McCarthy.
Anchorage Police Department spokesperson MJ Thim told Channel 2 on Sunday the department had been inundated with 911 calls from agitated drivers this weekend.
The project appears to be "on track" and all ramps are anticipated to be functional by Monday morning, McCarthy said.
