ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The American Red Cross says its current need for volunteers is at an all-time high.
The Red Cross is sending three to five Alaskan volunteers daily to help in Hurricane Harvey and Irma relief efforts.
"We are very busy right now with two hurricane responses," Lisa Miller, Red Cross Regional Communications Officer said.
Miller said the organization would like to bring in new volunteers to train so cover Alaska and the Anchorage area while others are in the lower 48, "because we are still responding to disasters on the daily here."
Classes for new volunteers will continue next week, Miller said.
