ANCHORAGE (KTUU)- The non-profit Victims for Justice honored the individuals and organizations who support Alaskans during times of tragedy.
The 2018 Victim Service Awards were held Saturday evening to honor those who care for Alaskans affected by violent crime.
Michelle Evans, Victims for Justice program manager says the organizations helps victims navigate the legal system and provide support to cope with trauma and grief after tragedy.
"We do not think that something is going to happen to us, but really, life can turn on a dime," said Evans.
Victims for Justice specializes in supporting victims after violent crimes like assault, drunk driving, and supporting surviving family members of homicide.
