ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Alaskans have less than two weeks to register for this year's permanent fund dividend and possibly donate a portion of the check to Pick.Click.Give.
Online records show, as of today more than 445,000 Alaskans have registered for the PFD.
But that's a number hundreds of non-profits in Alaska, who receive donations through the program will be watching closely over the next two weeks.
Non-profits in Alaska are making a final push for donations.
"This is a really important part of making nonprofits in Alaska work," said Lisa Aquino with Catholic Social Services.
CSS is one of the many recipients of Pick.Click.Give money. The group says the yearly donations are crucial to its various programs.
With the state's tight fiscal times and lawmakers recently approving a bill to cap the PFD at $1,000 for the next three years, Pick.Click.Give says its receiving fewer pledges.
The organization says the average donation size is up and some nonprofits say that's encouraging.
According to CSS nonprofits across the state will hold a series of rallies Friday to remind Alaskans to register for the PFD and to donate through Pick.Click.Give.
