ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - 8/23 Update:

Anchorage police have identified the man killed in a shooting in Muldoon last week as 35-year-old Jonathon Smith.

Officers found Smith in a car on Muldoon Circle with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died after being rushed to the hospital.

APD says Smith's family members have been notified.

No further details were immediately available from police Tuesday, but APD is asking anyone with information or surveillance video of the incident to call them at 786-8900, or submit an anonymous tip through crimestoppers at 561-STOP.

8/16 Update:

Police say that the man found in a car on Monday has died from his injury, which was a gun shot wound to the head.

"We are still working on the details, and this investigation is ongoing," said MJ Thim, spokesperson for the Anchorage Police Department.

Thim said that the man, who is not yet being identified due to the fact that his relatives have not yet been informed, was found shot in the head, sitting in the driver seat of a car parked on Muldoon Circle.

At this time it is not clear if the car had been broken into. However, police did confirm that they are investigating the shooting death as a homicide, and have effectively ruled out the potential of it being a suicide.
