ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - 6:00 p.m. update
Anchorage Police Department have arrested three suspects in Wednesday's fatal Midtown stabbing.

The three suspects have been identified as 27-year-old Shalom Gilmore, 39-year-old Ralph Jim and 32-year-old Bert Jones Jr.

Gilmore faces charges of first-degree murder while Jim faces charges of second-murder.

Jones Jr. faces charges of both first and second-degree murder.

According to a statement released by police, Jones Jr. is the suspect who 'stabbed the victim.'

APD's preliminary investigation found 'a group of people were sitting on the side of the building when two adult males in that group began to assault another adult male in the group without being provoked.'

The statement continues to say one of the suspects handed the knife to the other. The male who received the knife was then said to have stabbed the victim.

'During the assault and stabbing, the other people in the group began to walk away leaving the three males alone with the victim. After the stabbing, the three males left the scene,' said the statement released by police.

Anchorage police have also released the name of the victim of the fatal as 28-year-old Philip Cleveland.

9 a.m. update:

While the identity of the man fatally stabbed on the 200 block of East Northern Lights has not yet been released, authorities have released further information regarding the victim and the incident as a whole.

MJ Thim, spokesperson for the Anchorage Police Department, said that the victim is believed to be homeless.

As is sometimes the case when dealing with homeless victims, it can prove difficult for authorities to notify next of kin. That step is required before police will publicly release the victim's identity.

"We spoke to several other people at the scene, and we believe they are also homeless," Thim said. "At least some of them are believed to have witnessed the attack."

Thim would not say whether any suspect has been identified, or if those who witnessed the stabbing have been able to identify who they believe the assailant to be.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information.
