Public can weigh in on budget, talk to lawmakers

JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - The House Finance Committee has scheduled public testimony Friday and Saturday for Alaskans to comment on the operating and mental health budgets. The committee is asking that people, who want to testify, keep their comments to two minutes.

The Anchorage legislative caucus has also scheduled its regular public meeting in Anchorage for people to talk to legislators.

In Anchorage, people can testify in person Saturday at the Legislative Information Office, 1500 W. Benson Boulevard, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The Legislature also has a call-in number for "off-net sites" – places in the state where there is no Legislative Information Office or people have a hardship to reach one. Alaskans can call (907) 465-9085 to get the call-in number. Off-net site call-in times have been set for 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Written testimony can be sent to housefinance@akleg.gov.

The legislative caucus of senators and representatives from Anchorage districts will hold its meeting for the public at Rasmuson Hall at the University of Alaska Anchorage, 3416 Seawolf Drive, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
