ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Gunfire broke out Wednesday afternoon in Fairview and one person was wounded while on a bicycle, police say.
Officers with the Anchorage Police Department said the incident happened in the area of 13th Avenue and Denali Street.
There, two people, both on bicycles, reportedly had an argument about an alleged theft. The shooter accused the victim of stealing something and gave chase.
The victim, who has not been named, rode away on their bicycle and was shot in the backside by the unidentified gunman. A spokesperson with the Anchorage Police Department called the resulting gunshot wound "non-life-threatening."
No arrests have been made and police continue to look for the suspect. The shooter is described as a black man, bald, and riding a maroon bicycle. He was last spotted wearing a light blue jacket and blue jeans.
A witness at the scene told KTUU that they saw the gun violence unfold, and witnessed an ambulance arrive later. They did not specify where the suspect went following the shooting.
Editor's Note: This story has been corrected to say that the victim was shot in the "backside," and not the back, as was previously reported.
