ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A South Anchorage bakery has celebrated its seventh birthday by baking a 107-pound cinnamon roll. Owners of the House of Bread say they have created an enormous roll every year since they've been opened, but this year's effort marks the bakery's biggest.
Carson Baldiviez says the family-run bakery created a taller and more extravagant roll by adding extra tiers and extra frosting. He wouldn't reveal the exact method used to create the sugary behemoth, preferring to keep that information top secret.
When asked why people love cinnamon rolls, Baldiviez said they are delicious and warming on a cold day. For home chefs, Baldiviez has a tip for great cinnamon rolls; buy natural ingredients. "We just use basic ingredients; yeast, salt, water, flour, honey and of course, some sugar and cinnamon and a whole lot of love."
