Alaska Volleyball Player of the Year named at South High School

South High School's Zoey Keene named 2017-18 Alaska Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year.

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Gatorade announced South High School’s Zoey Keene as its 2017-18 Alaska Volleyball Player of the Year, on Thursday. Keene is the fifth Wolverine volleyball player to be awarded this honor.

The senior setter had 854 assists and 211 digs this season for South. She was an American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American selection, and was also a First Team All-State honoree.

In the classroom, Keene maintained a grade point average of 4.1. Additionally, she has already signed her national letter of intent to play volleyball on scholarship, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Former South volleyball players to win this award include: Kayla Sims (’14-’15), Morgan Hooe (’11-’12) and Sarah Hibbert (’07-’08).
