ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A student walkout at Dimond High School turned into a rally with two opposing sides. The original focus of the student led walkout was to mark the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. The student-leaders said in a press release, “This movement is a student-led peaceful protest against congressional, state, and local failures in taking action to prevent gun violence.”
Students supporting gun rights staged a counter protest.
Other student walk outs/protests are planned for today.
This is a developing story which we will update as more information becomes available.
