WASHINGTON (KTUU) - Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan says he met with Vice President Mike Pence last night about Alaska's military, ahead of the Vice President's planned stop in Alaska on his way to the Olympic Games.

Sullivan told Channel 2 Washington reporter Peter Zampa that he emphasizes the "three pillars of Alaska's military might": That the state is the cornerstone of missile defense, the hub of air combat power for the Asia-Pacific and the Arctic, and that Alaska is a platform for expeditionary forces like the 4-25 Spartan Brigade to deploy anywhere in the world on a moment's notice.
