Dozens of students from Cooper Landing School joined local guides Sept. 13 for a trip down the Kenai River. They suited up in waders and life jackets to try their hand at catching rainbow trout and Dolly Varden.

They also had a science lesson about the salmon life cycle, including a chance to observe a dissection.
