ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Anchorage will continue to be home to multiple athletic and academic competitions - including March Madness Alaska - happening through the year 2023 according to Visit Anchorage, which announced the deal Monday.
The agreement comes following a bidding process examining facility, hotel, flight, support and other category capacities and offerings. Cost advantage also played a big role in the decision to hold the numerous tournaments, meets and other events in Alaska's largest city.
ASAA's executive director, Billy Strickland, said in a release that having so many Alaska high school alumni in Anchorage allows the tournament to bring people together from all across Alaska.
“Anchorage is Alaska’s largest and most accessible community,” said Julie Saupe, President and CEO of Visit Anchorage, in a release. “We are a great fit to host ASAA’s major statewide events.
"We look forward to hosting the participants and having them enjoy Anchorage’s amenities," she said.
