There's a sea change underway at Pirate's Dinner Adventure, the dinner show near International Drive in Orlando. The show is being revamped and enhanced with special effects in preparation for a June 29 debut, attraction officials said Friday.
The new story, called "The Curse of Poseidon's Treasure," will involve modern-day explorers who stumble upon the ship. Incorporated will be new competitions, games and music, says Imre Baross, vice president of Pirate's Dinner Adventure. (He's also writer and producer of the new show.)
Another show-stopper could be when, via special effects, the ship disappears.
Pirates will remain the focus of the show, of course, which is marking its 15th anniversary.
"The pirates must fly, the pirates must shoot, the pirates must sword-fight. These elements are absolutely expected from the point of the audience that comes to see our show," Baross says. " We cannot take away the excitement from them."
The new show is currently in soft-open mode at the attraction, although it has opened already at the Pirate's Dinner Adventure in Buena Park, Calif.
"We are breaking in the new show already so it will be perfect for the night of the 29th," Baross says.
