Survivor is back and it is Fans versus Favorites. Probst immediately makes the two tribes compete in a challenge for flint. Two members from each team race to a ring. The object is to touch the ring and your tribe’s flag at the same time. The problem is that it’s all about strength and it will be a physical wrestling match in the water. The first to 4 points win.
The first match is Erik and Dawn vs. Shamar and Julia. Erik throws his ring to Dawn but over shoots it. Shamar picks it up and carries it to his pole for the first point.

The next round has Hope and Eddie and Brandon and Andrea going at each other. Brandon drags the whole group to allow Andrea to win the point. 1-1.
Sherri and Mike are up against Brenda and Phillip. No one is eager to get to the ring. The learning curve is that by the time the ring gets to the vicinity of the poles, a wrestling match ensues. The girls and guys match up and a very enthusiast Shamar cheers Sherri on to “break her wrist.” He shouts this numerous times and everyone pauses and looks at him. Phillips scores and Favorites are up 2-1.
The fourth match-up is Matt and Laura against Francesca and Cochran. Typically, the sexes match up but due to Cochran’s physique, he paired with Laura. Francesca muscled the win for her team and the returning players need one more point to win.
The next round featured the battle of the titans, Malcolm vs Reynold (also Allie and Corinne). It turned into a full on wrestling match between the two. Malcom’s shorts fell to his knees and at one point he flashed everyone. The full moon must have helped him because he won the last point needed to win the flint.
Back on the fans camp, while everyone is trying to build shelter, Devil child, Shamar, wants to create tension. First, he doesn’t help out and second, he criticized his hard-working teammates. He insist that they need to build a fire. Why? Because he knows how to build one. All he wants to do is see them in pain and for him to come rescue the day. Well, he did! He helped make fire but that still doesn’t build the bridges he already burnt.
Also, this fans tribe seems to be cliquish. The Alpha males, Reynold and Eddie, want to work together. Then, Reynold and Allie have a “secret” pair. They promise to just play it cool in front of the tribe but by the end of the first day they are cuddling with each other on top of the shelter.
Eddie bonds with Hope because two attractive people always have chemistry with each other. Edie said this in a more conceited way. So the 4 petty pretty people are in an alliance. They feel like the cool kids in high schools and everyone want to be a part of the group. The thing is, they alienate themselves 4 vs 6. So guess who the MAJORITY of the tribe is going to go against. Hmm???
Michael and Matt make an alliance. Michael has strange editing. In my preseason write-up, I called Micahel boring. I didn’t expect him to play the game or play both sides. I still think he is going to go home soon.
On the favorite’s tribe, Francesca tries to play the game. I say “tries” very loosely. She doesn’t want to be the first person voted out again, therefore, she plays the social game. By doing this, she makes alliances with everyone. She doesn’t want to be the first person out so bad that she promises us that if the curse happened again she would eat a rock.
Well, during Franny’s social hour with the tribe, she had to confront Phillip. As you may remember, Philip was the reason why she was voted out in the first place. The conflict between those two caused the tribe to pick sides. Well, Phillip is crazy and can’t be read.
He wants to play like Boston Rob. He even has ‘BR Rules.’
- Get in an alliance.
- Get in an alliance within an alliance
- Get rid of your alliance before they get rid of you
Phillip has people working on his secret team. Corinne is the dominatrix but we didn’t hear other people’s name. Phillip basically made a deal with everyone. He tried to pressure Erik into an alliance but Erik doesn’t respond well to threats. According to him, Phillips is “a combative, competitive loser who drives people crazy.”
Immunity Challenge
Pairs of two race up a tower structure to retrieve crates that contain sand bags by throwing them down. After all crates are broken, one member has to throw the sandbags into 6 holes.
After the first heat, the favorites take an early lead. But, the fans caught up during the second rotation of pairs. Thanks to Erik’s and Brenda’s speed, the favorites caught up and it’s dead even. The favorites take a huge lead when Brandon and Andrea fly through the course. Malcolm throws bags into the holes and connects 3 before the fans start throwing. Reynold is good at this game as he connects 3 off the bat and then increases the lead. It’s now 5-3 and fans need one more hole filled and they win. Malcolm connects with another hole but Reynold scores the 6th hole and wins for the fans.
It’s a scramble game at the favorites’ beach. Francesca throws out Phillips name or Corinne. Andrea is upset at Francesca for calling the shots without referring to her alliance that she made with her, Dawn and Cochran. Andrea believes she can trust Phillip more and Francesca is the new target. Erik and Brandon tell Francesca that Andrea is maybe playing both sides so now the vote is flipped to Andrea. Once again, Brandon is intimidated with a beautiful girl on the island, SHOCKER!
At tribal, Probst asks about the relationship between Francesca and Phillip and nothing has changed. The past repeated itself as Francesca was voted out 6-4. She better eat that rock!
