This month's Fund the Future winner is an artist from Big Lake with a lot of big plans -- but none he's ready to settle on yet.
Micheal Horsman is already thinking about college. He wants to get an art scholarship, major in history and join the military as an officer after he graduates. But first, he has to conquer high school.
Micheal's mother home-schooled him last year to help get his grades up, and make him take more pride in his work. He's now ready for his freshman year at Wasilla High School, where he plans to refocus his efforts.
"I focus in school -- I mean, it can sometimes be a struggle for me, but I always try to do my best and I do what I can for my community," Horsman said.
"He is somebody that is willing to try things -- even if he doesn't think he can do it he tries it -- and he's been very blessed, and the things that come from him are just creative," said Horsman's mom, Karina Wentworth.
Horsman is spending the summer in Minnesota with his dad, taking it easy before he has to go back to school. He's isn't sure where he wants to go to college, but knows he wants to stay in Alaska.
