Mayor Dan Sullivan announced the royalty for Fur Rondy 2012 at his weekly presser on Wednesday.

25-year-old Stephanie Peterkin was named as Miss Rondy Queen at the Fur Rendezvous headquarters located between 4th Ave. and D St.

Peterkin and two Miss Rondy princesses will act as ambassadors to both tourist and Alaskans at the festival and at other events throughout the year.

“There’s a lot of exciting things to do. Get to see Alaska first hand. Dog sled races, fur, lots of food, fireworks,” Stepahnie Peterkin said.

Rick Nerland and Shawneen Conover were named as The Lord and Lady Trappers.

As for the King and Queen regents, Father Norman Elliott and Connie Skoglund received those honors.

The Fur Rondy festival kicks off February 24th and ends on March 4th.

Editor's Note: Stephanie Peterkin contacted KTUU and said she is 25-years-old not 23-years-old.
