The Air Force Band of the Pacific stationed at JBER is practicing for its holiday concert. The concerts take place December 3rd and 4th at the Performing Arts Center. Band members say it's their way of giving back to the Anchorage community.
This year the band is joined by some of its alumni. Air Force budget cuts meant some of the former members were re-located. Commander Captain Haley Armstrong says there is still some uncertainty about the future, but she says Alaska will always be a part of the mission.
"So it might be harder for us to get here if something did change and the band was completely moved somewhere else. But through our partnerships and through our organizations the mission is too important so we will continue to support even if there was a drastic change but we've got our fingers crossed that we will still be able to have a strong pressence in this area" says Captain Armstrong.
Doors open at 6:15 on Monday and Tuesday. The concert starts at 7:00. Admission is free. Channel 2 News will re-air the concert on December 25th.
