Hundreds of motorcyclists gathered at the Delaney Park Strip on Saturday for the annual Blessing of the Bikes.
May is Motorcycle and Scooter Awareness Month-- a time to remind drivers the importance of sharing the road.
The Blessing of the Bikes is an event bikers say they look forward to every year-- it's a kickoff to the riding season and raises motorcycle awareness in the community.
"People forget about motorcycles. Even though we have a lot of them up here every season. Sometimes spring comes around and people forget. It's good to remind people," said motorcyclist Matt Tinkcom.
ABATE of Alaska and Anchorage City Church help organize the event every Spring.
"We really need to get the word out to people in cars and trucks to be aware of motorcycles," said Ed Rutledge with ABATE. "Don't drive distracted. That's becoming a bigger and bigger issue."
