ANCHORAGE, Alaska - “The Avengers” and “Prometheus” released additional trailers in the past few weeks, which aim to make the summer blockbuster season a nerd paradise.



Joss Whedon, of Buffy-tv fame, directed the mega-ensemble cast from the Marvel universe in “The Avengers.” 

If you happened to watch all the cameo appearances from the recent slew of comic book movies from Marvel, then you can expect to see a set of familiar actors reprising their superhero roles and even some new faces popping up.

The movie has a release date of May 4, 2012.



Ridley Scott, director of Alien, returns to the same universe that spawned a franchise – sort of with “Prometheus.”

The movie was reported to be a prequel, but at a later point became its own stand-alone movie that references and takes place in the same Alien canon. Wherever “Prometheus” falls, it marks the return of Ridley Scott to the sci-fi genre over 20 years since the renowned director made "Blade Runner" and "Alien."

The movie will open in theaters on June 8, 2012.
