FORT RICHARDSON -- Soldiers at Fort Richardson honored the life and service of Pfc. Patrick Allen Devoe at a memorial service Thursday.
A bomb killed Devoe while on patrol in Afghanistan on March 11.
At his memorial service, friends and soldiers came to share their memories and give a final salute to the fallen soldier.
A soldier who worked with Devoe said he was a man full of life and always had a story to tell.
"One man never dies until his soul does. You loose somebody that not many people can be angry at. Not many people can have grudges against him. He's always smiling," Spc. Edward Murray said.
His best friend said he had a lot of questions before he left for Afghanistan but says he wanted to serve.
Devoe leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter.
