ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- To celebrate Chinese culture, UAA's Confucious Institute presented China's Peking Opera.

It's all part of the 60th anniversary celebration for the People's Republic of China.

The Peking Opera is known for its colorful costumes and traditional song and dance. Chinese classical theatre also includes lots of action and adventure, including the martial arts.

"The UAA Confucious Institute, our main mission is to promote knowledge of Chinese language and culture, so we do this by offering various language courses in Mandarin Chinese, we also do that by providing  cultural programs such as this," said Paul Dunscomb, with the Institute.

The free showing was performed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA campus.
