ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will be taking the stage during prime time at this year's Republican National Convention.

The 2008 convention will be held in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., the week of Sept. 1.

Palin will speak first on Tuesday night, Sept. 2, to be followed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and keynote speaker Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City.

Meanwhile, Jim Whitaker, a Republican mayor of the Fairbanks-North Star Borough, will speak Tuesday night, Aug. 26, at the Democratic National Convention.

Whitaker won the invitation after becoming one of the nation's first Republican mayors to endorse presumed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama of Illinois.
