ANCHORAGE, Alaska-- The Alaska Aces shuffled the deck a bit Tuesday, turning a glut of players at one position into a gem at another.
Alaska gets all-star center Alexandre Imbeault from the Johnstown Chiefs. In exchange, the Aces sent left wingers Michael Lambert
and Matt Robinson to the Chiefs.
Imbeault scored 26 goals in 56 ECHL games last season. He also scored three goals in 12 games with providence of the AHL.
Both Lambert and Robinson had already expressed an interest in playing somewhere else this season, and since the Aces have eight wingers under contract, the trade for a solid center simply made sense.
"Two pieces that I thought we could put into play to add depth up the middle with Lambert and Robinson being wingers, we have eight wingers under contract with ten coming into training camp so they were expendable. So we moved them along and brought in some depth up the middle," said Aces Head Coach Keith McCambridge.
The Alaska Aces begin their season in early October.
