If you want to visit one of Alaska’s premier brown bear viewing sites, then you need to get your permit in soon.

Permits to view bears at the McNeil River state game sanctuary are due by March 1st.

Permits cost $25.00 per person, which is non-refundable.

Applicants are then entered into a lottery and if drawn must pay $150.00 to get their permit.

McNeil River is located 100 miles west of Homer. It is the world's largest known gathering of brown bears.
