A Giant Adventure, Part 1, is Saturday, May 25, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden. The all- ages walk is free. Pre-registration is recommended. Heavy rain/thunderstorms will postpone.
The Westwoods Letterbox Search is Saturday, May 25, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Westwoods (Guilford Land Trust). Use clues to reach a letterbox where you can stamp, draw pictures and write messages of the day's discoveries. The walk is free and recommended for families with children age 4 and older. Pre-registration is recommended. Heavy rain will cancel.
Trek to the Summit is Sunday, May 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Cathedral Pines Preserve in Cornwall. The Mohawk Trail will lead you through Cathedral Pines, by the Mohawk Mountain State Park ski area, and past scenic vistas. Then follow the Mattatuck Trail to the summit of Mohawk Mountain. The free hike is suitable for families with teen-age children, as well as singles. Heavy rain will cancel.
