Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki of Denamrk retired after losing the first set 5-7 to Maria Kirilenko of Russia during their semifinal match Friday from the New Haven Open at Yale. Wozniacki sustained a right knee injury the day before against Dominika Cibulkova of Russia.
