HEMET, Calif. (KTLA) -- Riverside County sheriff's deputies arrested a fast-food employee Thursday they claim stabbed a customer during an early-morning fight in a Hemet Del Taco restaurant.
Deputies responded about 1:50 a.m. to a report of assault with a deadly weapon at the Del Taco in the 4100 block of E. Florida Avenue. After arriving, they learned a dispute occurred between the employee and customer over a discrepancy in the customer's food order, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
The argument escalated and the employee -- identified as Gabriel Villalba, 28 -- stabbed the customer in the stomach with a knife, according to the news release.
The customer's friends rushed him to a nearby hospital. His injury was considered serious but sheriff's officials said he is expected to survive.
Deputies arrested Villalba on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked at the Larry Smith Correction Facility in Banning. His bail was set at $25,000.
