Cyber Monday sales online were expected to kick off record numbers for holiday gifts being shipped across the country along with Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

The United States Postal Service, Fed-Ex, and UPS said the volume of packages always increases from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but with more people shopping online than in year's past they are preparing for those numbers to be higher.

With today beginning the first of 21 days of shipping until Christmas, UPS said it will move 527 million packages across the country and here in Alaska all the way until Christmas Eve.

“We do business with 24 of the top 25 retailers and we know that about a third of all shoppers will do their shopping online with a huge rise in shopping via mobile device,” Mike Mangeot with UPS said.

Deadlines to Ship, so Packages Arrive by Christmas:

UPS: December 21

Fed-Ex: December 22* (Express and Priority)

USPS: December 17 (Last day to ship to military)

USPS: December 19 (Last day for most international shipping)

USPS: December 22 (Last day for most Express Mail)

“Our last delivery day is December 24th when our drivers will be out until the last package is delivered,” Mangeot said. “Those men and women are heroes that day making Christmas happen for our customers all over the world.”
