Abducted barista Samantha Koenig, the 18-year-old woman last seen a week ago at her Midtown coffee stand, means a great deal to her father according to family members.

Koenig's paternal grandmother, Shirley Koenig, says Samantha was primarily raised by her father, James Koenig, after her parents divorced.

“This is just killing my son.” Shirley Koenig said. “I just hate to think what will happen to him if anything happens to (Samantha). She’s been his whole life ever since the day she was born.”

Anchorage police say surveillance video from Common Grounds Espresso, at Tudor Road and Fairbanks Street, shows Koenig being abducted by an armed man at about 8 p.m. Feb. 1.

Friends say Koenig has an infectious laugh and loves the color green, which is why they’re wearing green ribbons in honor of her.

The Anchorage School District said Koenig attended West and South High Schools as well as AVAIL.

Shirley Koenig urged her granddaughter’s kidnapper to let her go.

“Please bring her home safely, let her go.” Koenig said. “This isn’t worth it. Don’t make it any worse than it already is. Her father is just going crazy along with the rest of us.”
