The search for 18-year-old Samantha Koenig is attracting national and international attention.
On Tuesday, a producer for cable news channel HLN's "Nancy Grace" show was gathering information from family and friends on the "Help Find Samantha Koenig - Kidnapped in Anchorage, Alaska" Facebook page.
While the Anchorage Police Department is asking the public for assistance, officers say some tips that are submitted with good intentions can be distracting from the case -- including several to date from people claiming to be psychics, according to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker.
"We've never had a clairvoyant tip that turned out to be a viable lead in any of of our cases," Parker said.
