The phones were ringing off the hook at Alaska's 2-1-1 answering service.
One operator says they fielded more than 60 calls in a four hour period Friday.
Most of the callers have questions about storm related recovery, such as who's responsible for cleaning up downed trees, or if there are shelters available for those who still don't have electricity.
If 2-1-1 can’t answer your question they can likely direct you to someone who can.
"Icing your refrigerator or icing your freezer can sometimes hold it for a while, if we know the power will be back on," said Director Karen Bitzer.
Ice is a hot commodity at Lutheran Social Services food bank in Anchorage.
Director Alan Budahl gave away 25 bags to people who are without power and are afraid their food may spoil; most of them bought that food from Lutheran services last week.
“It's just a shame to see all that food go to waste, said Budahl, “because it’s just what's feeding their family for two or two and a half weeks out of the month."
Lutheran’s warehouse is running low on fish and poultry so Budahl is worried people who come back to resupply may not have much of a selection, but relief may be on the way in the form of a PFD check.
"October is normally our slowest month, because people will have some income to buy food, so we just have to get through the to PFD time."
Representative Pete Peterson is asking people to bring flashlights, canned food, candles and other emergency supplies for storm victims to the Spirit of Muldoon picnic, Saturday from noon to 2:00 at 2140 Muldoon Road.
