Manson murders

The Manson case returned to the public spotlight on Sept. 5, 1975, when "family" member Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme pointed a gun at President Ford. She was convicted of attempted assassination, and was imprisoned until Aug. 14, 2009. [For the Record, April 6, 2012: An earlier version of this caption said Fromme remained in prison.]
