( Christopher Reynolds / Los Angeles Times ) Q: I love the mountains, but I'm not so wild about hanging out with 19-year-old snowboarders. Am I out of luck? A: No. You are the reason that Idyllwild exists. It's convenient to no ski slopes, yet it's got a bunch of rental houses and a great restaurant for whiling away an afternoon: Cafe Aroma, which always seems to have a guitarist or two playing on the patio. One good B&B in town is the Rainbow Inn. Also, keep an eye out for concerts at the Idyllwild Arts Academy, which is a very well-regarded boarding school for kids who excel in the arts. |
