Tickets go on sale to the general public Tuesday in the NSU Wolf Shoppe in the renovated student center.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18-20 at the Johnson Fine Arts Center mainstage. All seats are reserved. Tickets $14 for adults. The price for senior citizens and non-NSU students is $12. Tickets will increase in price $2 at the door. Cash and checks are only accepted.
The show's main character is Elle Woods, a California college sweetheart who attends Harvard Law School.
“Legally Blonde — The Musical” is recommended for all ages, according to a news release.
NSU Theater’s production features Larissa Buchholz as Elle Woods. Buchholz was seen last year as Meg Giry in “Phantom of the Opera” and Kira in “Xanadu.” Paul Hoselton appears as Emmett Forest, the Harvard grad assistant who helps Elle during her difficult first semester and wins her heart. Hoselton was last seen as Raoul in “Phantom of the Opera.” As Paulette, Elle’s hairdresser and confidante, will be Emily Davis, who also was in “Phantom of the Opera” and “Xanadu.”
One of the Delta Nu sorority sisters who make up Elle’s chief cheering section is played by Yvonne Freese, who was Christine in “Phantom of the Opera” and was in “Xanadu” at NSU and “Monty Python’s Spamalot” at Aberdeen Community Theatre and both of last summer’s Northern Fort Playhouse productions. Rounding out the trio are two NSU Theater newcomers, Heather Kelsey and Kaitlin Buchholz.
Steve Balsarini, who is well-known to ACT and NSU Theater audiences, plays Professor Callahan, and Anthony Rohr is Warner Kensington III, the man who Elle follows to Harvard. Rohr has appeared at NSU in “The Drowsy Chaperone” and “Phantom of the Opera.”
The production is directed by NSU Director of Theatre Daniel Yurgaitis, with vocal direction provided by NSU music faculty member Michael Skyles and music direction by NSU music faculty member Robert Vodnoy. NSU scenic design professor Joshua John Frachiseur is creating the sets, and NSU adjunct faculty member Nicole Frachiseur, who created the wardrobe for last season’s “Phantom of the Opera” and “Xanadu,” is again designing the costumes. Student Kate Jarland is the stage manager, assisted by students Lyndsey Mesmer, Eric Derington and Kirk Bender. Kyle Stugelmayer is choreographing, and Tina Hanagan will provide sound design.
There are no exchanges or refunds available for this production, and group rates are available. The bookstore is open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
