Thirteen attorneys and judges have applied for the upcoming vacancy on the Alaska Supreme Court.
Justice Walter Carpeneti has announced plans to retire in January.
This list of applicants was released by the Alaska Judicial Council, which is tasked with vetting the candidates and recommending at least two for consideration by the governor.
The applicants include:
Joel Bolger, State Appeals Court Judge
Susan Cox, a Chief Assistant State Attorney General
Jeffrey Friedman, an Administrative Law Judge
Andy Harrington, an Assistant Attorney General
Terry Thurbon, Chief Administrative Law Judge in Juneau
Peter Maassen, Attorney (Private Practice)
Daniel Westerburg, Attorney (Private Practice)
Russ Winner, Attorney (Private Practice)
Andrew Guidi, Superior Court Judge
Michael MacDonald, Superior Court Judge
Philip Pallenberg, Superior Court Judge
Eric Smith, Superior Court Judge
Trevor Stephens, Superior Court Judge
