Anchorage Police have arrested two men for sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman who was found dead last week, at an apartment on the 2800 block of East Tudor Road.

Jesse Hess, 32, and George Thomas, 56, face charges for second degree sexual assault.  Charging documents say that both men had sex with the woman while she was incapacitated and possibly deceased.

Police say dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from a man who identified himself as Hess at about 1:30 Friday afternoon.  He told the dispatcher that he only knew the woman by her first name -- and that she was unconscious and not breathing, after drinking the night before.

When police arrived at Hess’ apartment, they found the woman naked and partially covered with what appeared to be a sleeping bag or a blanket.  Police found blood on the woman, the mattress and a headboard.

According to the charging documents, Hess told police that both he and Thomas had sex with the woman the night before.  Court documents say police found empty beer and whiskey bottles in the apartment.

Hess told police that he, his brother and Thomas had been partying with the woman.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Thomas’ cell phone and recovered photographs of the woman, in which she was naked and looked unconscious.  Hess and Thomas were arrested on Nov.30.

Anchorage Police Lt. Anthony Henry says police are still early in their investigation into the woman’s death, which they are treating as suspicious.
