Anchorage firefighters responded to a fast-moving house fire in Mountain View Thursday evening, saying nobody was injured in the blaze.

Dispatchers initially said the fire on the 200 block of Lane St., which was reported shortly before 7 p.m., was a “defensive fire,” indicating that fire crews were trying to contain it rather than enter the structure and aggressively extinguish it. Subsequent attacks on the fire were able to bring it under control.

Capt. Rod Harris of the Anchorage Fire Department said power lines that were downed by the fire created a dangerous situation for other families in the area. Harris said "we had power lines that run down the back side of the house that run down the alley and they had gotten enough heat to them that they actually dropped. They had laid across the fence and energized the chain link fence to all the homes in this immediate area."

Katie Bender with the Red Cross says three adults and four children were displaced by the fire and receiving assistance Thursday night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
