FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
The Fairbanks North Star Borough is seeking to have a lawsuit filed by former U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller dismissed.Miller alleges in the lawsuit that the borough violated his privacy by releasing records about his employment.
But borough attorneys say there is a lack of evidence supporting Miller's claims. They also point to prior court decisions in a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed.
The borough released the employment documents on Oct. 25, 2010, after several media organizations, including the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner sued to get more information about Miller and ethics violations.
Miller was an attorney for the borough for seven years and resigned in 2009. The borough maintains that Miller's employment records were public because of his high-profile status as a Senate candidate.
