JUNEAU, Alaska—A spokesperson says Gov. Sean Parnell does not plan to call a special session to address the coastal management program. Without intervention, the program will expire by the start of the next fiscal year, July 1.
The program became a casualty of the special session's rushed ending. The House failed to agree to a proposed compromise that would have revamped the program and extended the life of it until 2017. The House then abruptly adjourned, dooming the program unless the governor intervened.
The opt-in program allows states to put conditions on certain activities on federal lands and waters.
