Voters will have their say in Tuesday's elections on Proposition A, which includes over $453 million in bonds to cover more than 30 state transportation projects from Sitka to North Pole.
In a state as large and widespread as Alaska, transportation is a hot topic. The biggest project is $50 million for the Port of Anchorage expansion.
Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell -- who also supervises the state Division of Elections, a neutral party in this year's races -- agreed to speak with Channel 2 on the topic.
“When I look at the port projects on the list, I look at communities that are doing things on our coast that will help development inside the state," Treadwell said.
Some voters are looking at that too and others how projects will directly affect them. Another big-ticket item is $30 million for a rail extension to Port MacKenzie.
“We live at Point MacKenzie, so we kind of downplay a lot of that because we know the big cities will probably go for it, and right now we're not ready for our growth over there," said early voter Judy Travlso. "So we would more than likely let everybody else support it now."
