Don't expect Gov. Sean Parnell's oil tax bill to be considered by the Senate Resources Committee any more this session. Committee co-chair Joe Paskvan says the bill has been pulled.
In a floor speech Monday, Senate President Gary Stevens laid out Senate leadership's qualms about passing a bill cutting oil taxes this year.
The Legislature is scheduled to adjourn Sunday but Stevens said he and other lawmakers don't believe they have the information needed to make a sound policy call.
The House passed a version of Parnell's bill, and Parnell wanted the Senate to follow suit. Parnell believes urgent action is needed to stem declining oil production.
Senate leaders have said they want to work on the tax issue during the interim and resume debate when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
