Seven candidates are competing to fill Harriet Drummond's West Anchorage assembly seat.
Drummond, who was elected to the state house, will be resigning from the assembly in early January. Yesterday was the final day to submit an application to fill an empty assembly seat.
The running candidates are former city budget director Cheryl Frasca, civic activist Gordon Glaser, retired school teacher David Nees, former school board member Tim Steele, military veteran Jerry Walton, contractor Jason Agre, and former assembly member and former acting mayor Matt Claman.
The assembly will appoint a replacement at its meeting on January 15th. The members will vote for multiple rounds until one candidate receives six votes.
