Alaska Communications has restored service after Internet and phone outages that lasted for several hours Tuesday, according to the Internet and wireless carrier.

Company spokesperson Heather Cavanaugh said home and business Internet and wireless service became sporadic at 12:56 p.m., and was restored by 5:39 p.m.

Cavanaugh said the outages appeared to be intermittent and didn't affect all customers, although home Internet service in Anchorage was temporarily offline.

Last month the company formed the Alaska Wireless Network, a joint venture with competitor GCI to provide wireless services statewide.
