The cleanup is continuing in what is turning out to be the largest fuel spill for Kodiak in more than a decade.Steven Russell of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation told the Kodiak Daily Mirror that the spill is significant. He says what makes it different is its location right in downtown Kodiak.
The landing craft grounded on Puffin Island and remains visible from both the downtown and a scenic overlook frequented by tourists. Meanwhile, gloved workers are trying to soak up fuel on the beaches below.
