BETHEL, Alaska—
Alaska state wildlife troopers say nearly 200 moose hunters with permits to participate in the Lower Kuskokwim hunt last fall have failed to report whether they caught moose or not.KYUK (http://bit.ly/HBhJIa) says permit holders are required to report within 24 hours of their hunts.
Troopers say out of more than 1,500 hunters, 185 have not submitted their reports.
According to troopers, holdouts face tickets, fines or bans from future hunts.
Troopers say the reports are crucial for wildlife biologists with the state Department of Fish and Game to determine when to close the hunts and how successful hunters are.
Permits can be submitted in person, by mail or through Fish and Game's website.
