FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
A veteran newspaper executive has been named publisher of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.Owner William Dean Singleton announced Friday that 57-year-old Bill Kunerth, the publisher of the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello for the last nine years, was picked for the job and will start in mid-April
Kunerth previously worked as publisher at newspapers in Ellensburg, Wash., Lake Tahoe, Calif., Whitefish, Mont., and Spearfish, S.D.
He replaces Marilyn Romano, who left in August to join Alaska Airlines. The newspaper has been overseen by general manager Kathryn Strle.
Kunerth comes from a newspaper family. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://bit.ly/y3OkBs) reports his father spent three decades as a journalism professor at South Dakota State University and Iowa State University. Kunerth's older brother is a features writer for the Orlando Sentinel.
